Melissa Simard BAPSY CCTS-A, NASM

Melissa’s educational journey is marked by a deep-seated passion for both animal science and psychology. She earned her Associate’s degree in Applied Animal Science with a specialization in Equine Management from the University of New Hampshire, followed by a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a focus on child and adolescent development from Southern New Hampshire University, where she graduated Cum Laude.

Driven by her belief in the profound therapeutic benefits of equine-assisted interventions, Melissa became certified in the Eagala model in 2017. Her dedication led her to apply this model in South Carolina before bringing her expertise to Arizona, where she works with diverse populations, including children, adults, military personnel, and their families, addressing issues ranging from trauma and depression to addiction and anxiety.

Complementing her Eagala certification, Melissa is also a certified Clinical Trauma Specialist-Addiction from the Trauma Institute, and became certified as a Clinical Trauma Professional II.  She also attained membership in ARCH (ARenas for CHange) and continues to expand her practice in equine-assisted learning.

Currently pursuing her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Grand Canyon University, Melissa remains steadfast in her conviction that horses possess a unique capacity to facilitate healing and personal growth. She emphasizes a future-oriented, solution-focused approach, believing in the power of individuals to transcend their past and unlock their hidden strengths.

Beyond her professional pursuits, Melissa finds joy in spending quality time with her family, indulging her love for horseback riding and the outdoors, and nurturing her holistic well-being through fitness and mindfulness practices.
